I'm at it again, this time bringing Doom 3 up to date and making the game look and run much better, for testing purposes FPS counter has been left enabled. Any performance issues post here and I'll do extra tweaking.
Changes:
- Optimised specifically for 256 \ 512MB cards
- Optimised for 1280*1024 & 1600*1200
- Advanced caching techniques
- Enhanced brightness & gamma for better realism & visibility
- Enhanced image quality
- Tweaked for balanced & higher FPS
- Advanced image filtering techniques to improve performance without quality loss
- Optimised vertex use for better performance
- OpenGL caching enhancements
- Optimised stencil shadows
- Enhanced & optimised specular
- Optimised VRAM usage
- Bump mapping enhancements
- Armour value adjustments to balance harder difficulty settings, armour strength 1.1 for campaign, 1.0 for multiplayer
- Tweaked AA & AF performance
- Texture Optimisations
- Light sources tweaked
- D3 will now cache more during level loading to prevent "stutter" during gameplay
- Optimised game loading for extra caching
- Other numerous tweaks
Notes:
- Install latest drivers
- Set AA & AF via driver settings ONLY
Installation:
Backup your current config.cfg file, just in case. The file is located at *drive letter designation*:\Doom3\base. Once backed up simply extract the .zip to the same location, overwriting the current config.cfg.
Disclaimer:
I do NOT guarantee everybody will see huge improvements, some may only see a small increase, and indeed some may see no increase or even negative results, hower I have tested the modded cfg file with various systems and configurations, but its impossible to check the cfg with every configuration in existence.
