eSATA HDD is not hot-pluggable -
03-23-2008, 12:12 PM
I have an Asus P5W Deluxe mobo and have been attempting to hot swap a new external HDD using the on- board eSATA connection. The Asus P5W has one eSATA socket provided by an onboard JMICRON JMB363 controller. This is set to BASIC in the BIOS as recommended in the handbook to enable the hot-plug function for the external device. The eSATA external drive is recognised by Windows only if it is switched on before booting. It is not recognised if switched on after booting.
Any ideas on settings I might need to change in BIOS or elsewhere to enable hot -plugging.
