Nintendo has dismissed French reports that Wii Sports 2 is already in development as "pure rumour and speculation".
NGC France had reported that a second title may well be in development, perhaps even with swimming, basketball and other sports included.
The first title comes free with the Wii in both the US and Europe, while early sales figures in Japan, where it is sold separately, had it as the console's most popular title.
"We're really pleased with the reaction to Wii Sports - from people completely new to gaming to the hardcore fans everyone has taken to it straight away," a Nintendo UK spokesperson commented.
"It might just be the most popular game this Christmas in homes across the UK."
In other words, they may not be talking about a sequel yet, but with online gaming still to come to Wii and the first game's popularity already significant, don't be surprised if the tune changes in future.

"I'm Tony Montana! You f*** with me, you f***in' with the best!"
"You wanna f*** with me? Okay. You wanna play rough? Okay. Say hello to my little friend!"
Which serious film watcher can forget these lines from the 1983 classic SCARFACE?! Remember the climax where Tony gets shot and dies? What would have happened if he survived the massacre? This is what the game, Scarface: The World Is Yours, exposes.

After the widespread news about the Metal Gear Solid 4 making its way to the Xbox 360, Konami finally confirmed that its just a rumor.
"Konami has no plans to bring Metal Gear Solid 4 to the Xbox 360 at this time," a Konami representative told CVG, reiterating that the Hideo Kojima stealth-em-up was still "exclusive to PlayStation 3."
Though Konami confirms that MGS4 will remain a PS3 exclusive, CVG still doesn't totally rule out a 360 version.

Gamehead's Geoff Keighley did some backstage interviews during the VGAs. Most of it is fairly interesting stuff, but one specific interview really pops out.
While talking with the Epic guys they spilled the beans on some new downloadable content for Gears of War. Unfortunately, the didn't talk details. They just said that Epic is known for supporting their games and that they had started working on something for Gears long before it launched. They did say whatever it is it would be free.

Recently Glenn Entis, Vice President and Chief Visual Officer at Electronic Arts discussed his feelings about the PlayStation 3 console.
When asked, how do the PS3 and Xbox 360 match up? Glenn responded:
"The whole industry knows it's been a challenge; the PS3's a very complex piece of equipment. On one hand it's a challenge, on the other hand there's tremendous potential in that box. I think it's going to take developers a little while to figure out how to unlock that power.
We've got games coming out now where we feel we've hit maybe 20 per cent of the potential of PlayStation 3. We know the power's there, but like any new platform it's going to take us a little bit of time to unleash it.
Was it more complex than we were expecting? Yes, probably; there were some challenges that we didn't expect. We've got tremendous confidence long-term that it's going to be a phenomenal games machine."
So to find that EA has only tapped into 20% of the PS3's power, you look at games like Fight Night Round 3 with amazing graphics and realistic facial animations, it makes you wonder what the PS3 will have in store for us in the future. Like Glenn said,"...We know the power's there, but like any new platform it's going to take us a little bit of time to unleash it."

After the EA-IGA deal, its Take Two's turn to try their hand at in-game advertising. Take Two today signed a deal with Double Fusion, a leading independent provider of in-game advertising and marketing solutions worldwide.
Double Fusion will be the exclusive North American and European representative for integrated advertising opportunities in select 2K titles debuting in 2007 and 2008. In addition, Double Fusion will serve as the exclusive representative and technology provider for dynamic in-game advertising across all PC and certain console platforms except for the Xbox® and Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment systems from Microsoft.
This deal only represents 2K developed titles, which includes a number of sports games, ones that could benefit from a realism standpoint from in-game ads. I doubt we'll be seeing much of this advertising in games like Pirates! or Civilization.

Sony and its second party developer, Polyphony Digital have decided to halt development of Gran Turismo HD, instead focus their attention on a true sequel of the franchise in Gran Turismo 5.
The series creator, Kazunori Yamauchi, says, however, that a "concept demo" will be available later this month. . The game, now called Gran Turismo HD Concept will hit the PlayStation Store on December 24th. This demo will allow gamers to try out ten cars and a single track of the game. It is also alluded to that further demos may be released prior to the release of Gran Turismo 5 some time in 2008.
Polyphony clearly feels that a full true sequel to the franchise is needed sooner rather than releasing a highly upgraded PS2 game. Great move Sony!!

Please note that in order to register for the beta, you must be 17 years or older and a resident of the 50 United States (includes District of Columbia) or Canada. If selected to participate, you must have access to the following:

By now European gamers should have figured out that they are not eligible for registering. However Bungie promises to open registrations in Europe very soon. So hold on until then but for now, enjoy this latest Halo 3 ad shown last night on ESPN.
