Connect a Mouse and Keyboard to your 360!

xfps360ur8

Yeah, you read it right guys! Team Xtender has been working on this killer product for sometime now, and today they released some cool production pics.

For those of you still wondering what this is all about, the XFPS 360 is an adapter for the Xbox 360. This cool device lets you connect a mouse and keyboard (both USB and PS2!!) to your Xbox 360, in addition to an Xbox 360 controller and even a Sony DualShock controller.

Well, this may not appeal to many of you out there, but for guys like me who have been into gaming on the PC for years (with a keyboard and a mouse ofcourse), this is one real cool product to wait for. I heard many of my friends who moved to console gaming complain about the difficulty involved in using a console controller, especially in Third Person/Shooting games.

So this will be a welcome product atleast for a few, if not for all. Stay glued, we will keep you updated with more info as its available.

PS3 Takes Twice the Power of Xbox 360

The power consumption reports have come in, and it's not looking so good for Sony.  The PS3 has a rated power consumption of about 380W.  As a few points of comparison, the Xbox 360 takes less than half that, at 160W, and the PS2 took only 45W.  What's funny is that the Wii comes in at about the same power consumption as the GameCube did, at right around 20W.

380W of power usage translates to an increase of $40 in your electric bill for a year of playing two hours a day.  Now, in all seriousness, if you're paying $500 or $600 for a console, does it really matter?  Nevertheless, Nintendo is using these numbers to their advantage, pointing out that "with a smaller chip and minimized power consumption, Wii can be left on 24 hours a day."  That's all fine, but I wouldn't recommend buying a Wii and playing it 24 hours a day.

PS3 to Allow Games to Install to Shorten Loading Times
PS3

You have to wonder how long the loading times will be on the PS3 if Sony plans to let games install parts of themselves onto your hard drive in order to reduce the time you spend waiting on the game, though it's definitely understandable, given Blu-ray discs can hold a lot of data, and at some point or another in the game you'll have to load that data into memory.

Two games, Ridge Racer 7 and Genji: Days of the Blade, will utilize this ability.  Ridge Racer 7 has the option of taking up to 5GB of disk space for game files, while Genji will take up to 4GB of storage.  These one-time transfers will take only a few minutes, but they'll save you a large percentage of your loading times throughout gameplay.

Sony has been hinting for a while now that they too are getting tired of optical discs, and that the PlayStation 4 may not have a disc drive at all.  Instead, it may just have the ability to download entire games using your Internet connection.  This way, you don't ever have to worry about finding the right disc or switching discs in your console, and if there are ever any bugs found patching the game is a piece of cake.  Large amounts of built-in storage are required, but that's pretty easy anyway, especially if you don't need the room for an optical drive.  Hopefully there will be more developments on this in the near future.

62 Wii Titles Announced by the End of the Year
Wii

Nintendo has announced that there will be a total of 62 games available for the Wii by the end of 2006.  Sounds pretty impressive, but be warned that 30 of these are "virtual console titles," which are classic games that you can buy and play on the Wii.  But the other 32 are brand new titles.

See the complete article for a listing of available games.
