We were expecting this after hearing a slew of rumors in the past month. And finally, it happened. Play.com , a UK Retailer has cut the price of the Xbox 360 Core version to £149.99 (used to be £199.99 earlier). This makes the console cheaper than the highly successful Nintendo Wii which is retailing for £179.99.
Now, this price cut can be seen in many ways. Firstly, its just Play.com trying to get rid of the stock of the core systems. And we heard the rumor - a 360 with HDMI in the works - this could mean the new 360, code named Zephyr is on its way. If this is the case, is it possible to see the same price cut in other areas too?
The Wii has clearly won the next gen console battle and Sony are struggling with their PS3. With the PS3's UK release scheduled somewhere around next month, this could be a real blow to Sony if other retailers follow suit.
