Scythe Ninja, old rockers never die

ImageDespite being a two year old desing, this heatsink is still among the best. Only the newest offering from Thermalright, the Ultra 120 Plus, outclasses it (but so it does with every other air cooler).

The fact that it's somewhat dated means that most reviews don't include it, so it's difficult to compare it with the current generation of top contenders. Anandtech gives you the opportunity to see how it fares, in a comprehensive article that also adresses the fan's role in the HSF combination.

I would remark that in combination with the right fan, it outperforms the best Zalman has and Scythe's own Infinity, while just the Tuniq Tower 120 and the previous champ from Thermalright (the Ultra 120) manage to distance themselves a little bit.

Thermalright High Rise HR07 memory cooler

XSreviews has a look at one of Thermalright's latest additions and sexy it looks too.

When people think of air coolers, they think of huge tower CPU heatsinks, stylish exhaust fan setups on GPUs and miniaturised chipset fan and 'sink combos. However little effort has ever been put into memory cooling. Attemps to cool RAM in the past have been met with more ratings with tiny 40 and 60mm fans just not being upto the job. Thermalright has stepped upto the challenge with their High Rise HR07 memory coolers; lets see if they can go where others have not.

tt-tmg-n4

Thermaltake Technology, world’s leading brand in high-performance chassis, high-efficiency power supply and coolers, today announced the introduction of world’s first waterblock for Nvidia GeForce 8800GTX graphic card.

The TMG ND4 is a revolutionary product with a Brazing Pure Copper Waterblock for maximum heat conductivity from heat source, Unique 60mm fan blade design to optimize the airflow while keeping the noise at minimal (18dBA) innovations to incorporate ultra-high performance with incredibly silent operation for the ultimate gaming experience.

Custom tailor designed for Nvidia GeForce 8800GTX, TMG ND4 VGA cooler utilizes state of the art Brazing Technology to weld waterblock with all copper cold plate. Coupled with high density stacked fins for faster heat convection with surrounding cool air, TMG ND4 not only cools the main GPU, but the GDDR3 memory as well. Low-Noise fan on the edge of TMG ND4 provides additional concentrated and high-press airflow across the dissipating fins.

The 400gram TMG ND4 is fully compatible with all Thermaltake liquid cooling system as well as any aftermarket solutions thanks to it’s multipurpose quick connectors that can be interchanged to support 1/4”(6.4mm) and 3/8”(9.5mm) diameter tubing.

The thoughtful design and performance-minded features of TMG ND4 will undoubtedly bring ultimate gaming experience that gamers across the world has been searching for. No word on the pricing yet.

Dell Hints At "Black Ice" Technology

xps_blackice

Dell updted its XPS 710 website today, referencing a technology only known as "Black Ice". The company does not reveal anything other than a teaser image.

Sources, however, suggest that Black Ice may be a phase change cooling system similar to that of Asetek's Vapochill cases, which dramatically reduces the temperature of the systems beyond even liquid cooling.

Dell has been overclocking its high-end systems lately, so this improvement would let Dell overclock even the hottest Core 2 Extreme quad-core processors without affecting other components. No info is available about a unveiling date.

Thermaltake Ruby Orb Review

tt-ro-1

Thermaltake is well known in the overclocker community for its top class cooling solutions and power supplies. They have been at the forefront of innovative air cooling and water cooling solutions for the enthusiast overclockers for sometime. Today, we will review their Ruby Orb CPU cooler. The Ruby Orb is designed to support most of the existing sockets including the LGA775, 939, and the AM2 sockets.

The Ruby Orb utilizes a radial dissipation design that is unique in the cooling industry. The number of cooling fins multiply as they extend from the center of the Ruby Orb to reduce backpressure on the fan and faster heat dissipation. The y-split fin design allows the Ruby Orb to maximize its cooling fins up to 140 fins at the end to provide extended cooling surface and smooth airflow.

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Heatsink Review

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro

Our quest for the best performing LGA 775 heatsink continues, and it looks like we have a winner. Let's take a look at the Arctic Cooling Freeaer 7 Pro. Can a heatsink costing only £13 be any good for cooling the latest Intel Core2 Duo processors?

Thermaltake Mini Typhoon Value Pack Heatsink Review

Thermaltake Mini Typhoon

Although summer's been long gone, better cooling for your CPU and lower noise for your ears never hurt. Today, we're taking a look at the Thermaltake Mini Typhoon.

Gigabyte G-Power Cooler Pro Heatsink Review

Gigabyte G-Power Cooler Pro

Heat is the overclockers' worst enemy. Stock heatsinks may offer adequate performance at stock speeds, but they tend to be rather noisy and  can get very annoying when you're trying to concentrate on the review you're writing Wink.

Let's take a look at the Gigabyte G-Power Cooler Pro, a cooling solutions that promises gecent performance combined with good looks.

Thermalright Ultra-120 Low Noise Heatsink Review

thermalrightultra120_pspc

Frosty keeps it cool with a look at Thermalright's Ultra 120 cooler. Heatpipes and 120mm fans abound.

The Ultra-120 heatsink extends Thermalright's position as one of the best low noise heatsink manufactures in the market. Yet the Thermalright Ultra-120 applies only fairly simple cooling technologies; a selection of U-shaped heat pipes, widely spaced aluminum cooling fins, and a low speed 120 mm fan which is user provided. The end result though is a large, and albeit balky heatsink, but one which can be operated very quietly while disbursing the high heat loads from modern-day dual core processors.

Corsair Nautilus500 Water Cooling System

nautilus-500-cooling

Here's another interesting watercooling kit from the technical experts at Corsair. Looks like the R & D department have gone completely bonkers this time. Corsair's Nautilus500 brings ease of use and performance in one small package. I wonder if they modelled it on the RamGuy?

Our attempts to encourage Corsair to go back to their roots and produce pukka performance hardware have obviously fallen on deaf ears with this latest hardware monstrousity. Do they really expect anybody will stick a giant plastic box on top of their aluminium case with poxy thin green tubing coming out the back. It gets better. Check out the specs.

Thermaltake Extreme Spirit II Cooler Review

extreme-spirit-ii

With all this hot weather, we thought we might try to cool things down with a look at a little Northbridge cooling courteousy of Thermaltake's latest chipset cooler. The Extreme Spirit II is designed to keep Northbridge temperatures down way below stock motherboard solutions. Now there's no excuse to get rid of that annoying squeaky fan and tacky heatsink on your motherboard and replace it with some real copper bling!
