Here's another interesting watercooling kit from the technical experts at Corsair. Looks like the R & D department have gone completely bonkers this time. Corsair's Nautilus500 brings ease of use and performance in one small package. I wonder if they modelled it on the RamGuy?
Our attempts to encourage Corsair to go back to their roots and produce pukka performance hardware have obviously fallen on deaf ears with this latest hardware monstrousity. Do they really expect anybody will stick a giant plastic box on top of their aluminium case with poxy thin green tubing coming out the back. It gets better. Check out the specs.
"Outstanding Cooling Performance Designed with enthusiasts in mind, the new Nautilus500 brings 30% more CPU and 40% more GPU cooling efficiency without excessive noise. While overclocking is not guaranteed by any one component, the degree of system overclock generally correlates with the degree of component cooling. The new Nautilus500 brings a new cooling solution to overclockers with its all-copper CPU block and Micro Channel Technology™. The Nautilus500 CPU cooling block provides maximum heat absorption and most efficient heat transfer. Fan speed can be adjusted to suit individual needs. When high fan speed is enabled, cooling performance is maximized. When low fan speed is selected, the Nautilus500 cools effectively with minimum noise generation. The Nautilus500 complete kit can be used on any processor type including Intel LGA775, and AMD sockets 754, 939 and 940."
If I'm going to splash out on a plastic box that's going to turn my case into a carbunkle I want guaranteed overclocking performance. Not some disclaimer that it may or may not work.
Don Lieberman, Chief Technology Officer at Corsair Memory, said that " they developed the kit to appeal to both performance seekers who want to overclock and entry level enthusiasts who fear using water to cool their systems."
How can you design a system for people who have a fear of using water to cool their systems. Does it come with armbands too for people who can't swim? What about those enthusiasts who fear that using Corsair products might make them a laughing stock? Perhaps there'll be a deluxe Captain Jack Sparrow version for hardcore overclockers complete with limited edition Pirates of the Carribean decals. Shiver me timbers.
For more information on this miracle of modern marketing, head on over to Corsair's website. Anybody caught peeking at the RamGuys package will be asked to leave.
Alternatively, people with common sense can purchase proper watercooling kit from Coolercases.co.uk. We'll be featuring our own watercooling adventure soon but if you can't wait to see the MaXit Monsta, head down to the Pimp your Rig forums for the latest project logs.
