 BitTorrent is a great little program,
useful for just about any type of file transfer you would need.
Several companies use torrent download concepts to help with their
download speeds, patchers, or just diffusing bandwidth
usage among its users. But some companies stay convinced its the
devil for aiding piracy. Warner Bros has left this train of thought,
however.Coming up this summer, the movie division of Warner Brothers is making over 200 videos available at www.bittorrent.com. The selection will include both movies and TV shows - some notable picks named already include Harry Potter and Babylon 5. The acceptance of BitTorrent by Warner Brothers marks an acceptance that digital video availability is a viable way to offer up TV shows and movies. Bittorrent itself has made strides to try to stem the piracy that sometimes takes place with users of the software, but there is only so much one company can do. The arrangement between Bittorrent and Warner Brothers was facilitated by BitTorrent's pact with the Motion Picture Association of America (or MPAA), as well as a new type of digital rights management software. Here's hoping the solution isn't worse than the problem itself, as some forms of DRM have had less than optimal results, hurting the honest consumer. It's counterproductive, to say the least.
