| Microsoft and Broadcom Plan to Make HD-DVD Cheaper |
|
Microsoft and Broadcom announced at CES in Las Vegas that they would be cooperating to develop an HD-DVD system that costs less for manufacturers to produce than current solutions. The idea is that this should make integration of HD-DVD into household electronics and computers more affordable than it currently is. The planned platform will use Broadcom's BCM7440 chip for the HD-DVD playback with Microsoft's Windows CE 6.0 software to run it. Lite-On and a few other manufacturers have announced that they will be using this platform in their HD-DVD devices. Your move, Blu-ray. Original article by TGDaily.
