mushkin-memory

Mushkin Enhanced continue to push the boundaries of memory performance with the release of XP2-8000 DDR2 memory.   With the launch of AM2, AMD's new platform using DDR2 and the long established use by Intel, DDR2 is the choice for many hardware enthusiasts seeking the best performance in memory.

On the 1st June, 2006, Mushkin announced the availability of DDR-2 REDLINE memory modules.

The eXtreme Performance 1GB XP2-8000 REDLINE module (DDR2-1000) offers enhanced second generation memory throughput and stability for the most demanding DDR2 computing platforms. A product of Mushkin's exclusive EPIC (Enhanced Performance IC) selection process, the XP2-8000 is hand-tested to the highest quality and performance standards. The module is an unbuffered 240-Pin Double Data Rate x2 (DDR2) Synchronous DRAM Dual In-Line Memory Module (DIMM), organized as a dual-bank 128Mx64 high speed memory array using 64Mx8 chip density. This DIMM achieves high-speed data transfer rates of 1000MHz at latencies of 4-5-4-11 (CAS-TRCD-TRP-TRAS). The XP2-8000 REDLINE is enhanced by Mushkin's red Frostbyte heatspreader to ensure superior thermal performance and system reliability. With extreme performance and Mushkin's renowned reliability, the XP2-8000 REDLINE is the memory upgrade of choice for those DDR2 enthusiasts demanding more out of their high-performance system.

patriotmemory
A new partner site at MaXit, Hardware Secrets are here to make life a little less complicated. Their review of Patriot memory, a favourite at MaXit, puts some 2 GB Dual Channel modules on the bench.

"Patriot was established in 2000 as a PDP Systems spin-off - PDP Systems is one of the oldest memory manufacturers in the world and very active in the OEM business - is getting a lot of attention in the enthusiast market with the excellent cost/benefit ratio of their products. We've got their PDC2G3500LLK memory kit, which comes with two 216.5 MHz/DDR433 1 GB modules with 2-3-2-5 timings. The main feature of these modules is their very low latency for such a high capacity product. Let's see how this kit performs on our tests."

Patriot Memory 2GB PC4000 ELK

patriot-memory-el4000

Another review draws to an end and Patriot Memory has churned up a kit that matches the performance of the big leaguers while keeping its price at a very affordable range. Sticking to the stock timings, we were able to push the kit up to 260 MHz which is respectable for the Samsung UCCC but nothing spectacular for those making the jump from 1GB to 2GB. With AM2 and Conroe fast approaching, there's no doubt that DDR2 is the future. DDR1 is slowly fading away and the time to go 2GB to keep your system running in the long run is now while the supply is high and the price of the PDC2G4000ELK is still nice and low.
