These days, Core 2 Duo articles are all you find on computing sites. Although most of us have got over excited about Intel's new processors, AMD loyalists who have chosen to build rigs based on AM2 platforms are not forgotten.
Lets have a look at MSI's latest offering for the AM2 bandwagon, dubbed the K9N SLI Platinum nForce 570 SLI *gasp*
"The nVIDIA nForce 570 SLI chipset is busting to the seams with a whole
bunch of features that position it just behind the high end nForce 590
SLI chipset. With the nForce 570 SLI you get 8-channel High Definition
audio, onboard dual Gigabit Ethernet network connections, six Serial
ATA channels and of course the option to take advantage of SLI via dual
PCI Express x16 slots! On top of all that, the MSI K9N SLI Platinum
motherboard PCSTATS is testing today includes three PCI slots, two PCI
Express x1, a single IDE channel and a staggering 10 USB 2.0 jacks.

ASUS has announced its new Republic of
Gamers series of motherboards. The Republic of Gamers (ROG) series was
displayed at Computex 2006 as the Pluto concept. It will be catered
towards the gaming and enthusiast crowd much like DFI's LANParty series. Most
of the features found on the Pluto concept will make it onto production ROG series
motherboards. These features include the LCD Poster which is a diagnostic
readout placed on the rear I/O panel. Unlike traditional debugging readouts
which require users to look up a debug code, the LCD Poster displays the
boot-up process and errors in full text for easier diagnostics.

The official release date of Conroe and Allendale CPUs - respective codenames for the 4 MB and 2 MB L2 Cache versions of Intel Core 2 Duo processors is nearing fast and has created a lot of excitement among PC enthusiasts worldwide. The new CPUs will require motheboards with new chipsets. The 975X chipset has been around on motherboards for sometime, but most of the current boards sporting the flagship chipset will be incompatible with Conroe due to VRM changes. The 975X chipset aimed at the enthusiast sector, and commands a relatively high price tag as far as motherboards go. This has always been the case with motherboards based on premium Intel chipsets. Fortunately, Intel has brought out a new chipset called the 965P to cater for the mainstream crowd. The Abit AB9 Pro is one of the first motherboard utilising the 965P chipset.
