| First photos of AMD 4x4 Motherboard |
With Intel's first quad-core desktop processor already available on the market, AMD is really under pressure to come up with their own quad-core solution. As their 4x4 platform reaches completion, the first 4x4 motherboard has been spotted. The motherboard above is really packed with features. The two processor slots are what qualify it as a 4x4 motherboard, along with four PCI-Express x16 graphics ports. 4 DDR2 slots are present, with two slots dedicated to each processor (which means you'll need four sticks if you want dual-channel memory). 12 SATA slots seems a bit excessive to me, but hey, it'll probably cost you and arm and a leg for this board, so it may as well come with everything.
