| NVIDIA nForce 570 and 590 Replaced |
|
NVIDIA has announced that Intel editions of their nForce 570 SLI and 590 SLI are being replaced. The new equivalents, named 650i SLI and 680i SLI, are slightly updated chipsets to better accomodate the Core 2 line of CPUs. The nForce 650i SLI SPP is paired with an nForce 430 SLI MCP to supply a total of 29 PCI-Express lanes, which allows one x16 lane or two x8 lanes for graphics. The nForce 680i SLI is paired with an nForce 590 SLI MCP to provide 48 PCI-Express lanes, enough to give you two x16 graphics slots. The new chips are codenamed C55 and are basically C19 chips with updated memory controllers. Does anyone else think a jump in model number from 590 to 680 should give you a little more than support for a new processor? Read the original article here.
