Well it's CES time of the year again - the hot technology showcase in Las Vegas - and of course the booth babes were out in force to attract would be buyers and enthusiasts with their hardware. It's amazing that a beautiful babe is still considered necessary to sell gadgets in the 21st century - I mean what do boobies and technology have in common. Ok I guess they are both great to play with and the packaging is invariably difficult to remove with one hand. But apart from that a gorgeous babe offering me a look at the latest bit of kit would in no way influence my decision to buy the product. Okay I'm lying. It would. I'm a sucka for hot pants and hardware. Bring on the babes.

Well as if we needed an excuse to post some pictures of a hottie, Lisa Marie Scott has given us one anyway. She's obviously shed the christmas pounds and is already bursting to get on the beach for some hot water sports. That bikini sure looks hot on her - anybody know what the make is she is wearing We think her hardware would give a Pentium Quad Core 3GHz processor a run for its money. Well it sure would be fun to tweak but I'm not sure she would like having copper heatsinks strapped to her nipples. Oh well, if only cloning of humans was possible. We could all have a Lisa Marie Scott. For now you'll have to make do with these pics of her in a fancy bikini after the click. And if you blink 50 times quickly and look at the screen while sucking a lemon you can see Lisa Marie in the nude.
Enjoy.

When Microsoft's benefits for the third quarter were
made available to the public, it was suspicious the lack of information
regarding their flagship Operating System. Halo 3 record-breaking
sellings were previously known, but about Windows Vista.... not a word.
It seemed as if they wanted people to assume that, being their primary
product, it should have helped to the overall figures. Some sites even
swallowed the bait and pointed to it as one of the products responsible
for the increase. Nothing more far from the truth.
The Inquirer
disclosed those benefit numbers from Microsoft, and it became evident
than Vista was selling less and less copies as time went by: 60
millions for the first quarter, 30 for the second and 28 for the third.
Now that the fourth is over, it's time to see some
gains here, but you never know. On the one hand, the Christmas season
should help, but on the other hand there's still a lot of people
waiting for SP1. |

The eDonkey network, also known as eDonkey2000 network or eD2k, has suffered a severe blow after seven of it's servers were shut down last week, following orders by German courts. This represents about a third of eDonkey's capabilities.
"Similar injunctions have been issued against eDonkey-linked servers in France and the Netherlands." Excerpt from techPowerUp!.
Once again, the fight against software piracy overlooks some legitimate uses that were in motion. In this case, I can name the distribution site for six-men tablebases, a chess tool that requires such a big amount of disk space that it couldn't be found anywhere else. |

The internet has been compared to the wild west when it comes to security. When a virus infection spreads, you have to buy yourself an antivirus. If someone gets your credit card number it's because you didn't take sufficient precautions. It's always you, you, you. I remember the comparison being made in quite revealing terms; in the old days it was required of you to have a gun and to know how to use it, in order to protect your life and your property. In the days of the internet it's assumed that you have an equivalent virtual gun.
All this ranting has it's origins on this story (PC World):
"A Seattle man has been sentenced to two years in prison for selling computers and cameras on eBay but never actually delivering the goods."
I wouldn't even call it "news", the fact that something that should be commonplace hits the tabloids is what qualifies as one.
Until now, us ebayers (an internet buyers in general) felt every purchase was like playing the roulette, now that there's a sheriff in town we know there's something else apart from our shooting skills to keep thieves at bay. |

Eli El (40) of Blue Island, Illinois, USA., was sentenced to 30 months in prison and three years of supervision for participating in an organized online software distribution conspiracy.
El pleaded guilty in May to one count of conspiracy to commit criminal copyright infringement for his participation in the distribution of approximately 20,000 copyright works over the Internet through the warez networks.
El gained privileged access to a number of warez file servers, where he was authorized to upload pirated software. In return for uploading pirated software files to these warez FTP sites, El obtained authorization to download other pirated software, games, and movies that had been uploaded to those sites by other members of the warez scene. In the case of one particular site known as "The Ether Net," El and his coconspirators distributed or caused the distribution of approximately 20,000 individual copyrighted works over the Internet. |
