When Hollywood does a remake of a TV show, you pretty much know what to expect ? garbage. Remaking Baywatch is no exception. Take a bad show and make a worse movie. It?s the oldest trick in the book. Obviously the filmmakers are banking on the ?Daisy Duke factor? by casting the magnificent Keeley Hazell in the film. Where Jessica Simpson was the sole reason people went to see the abysmal Dukes of Hazzard, Keeley's ample assets will surely draw enough horny men in to allow the movie to at least break even. I just hope her acting chops aren?t all that great. The worse they are, the more skin she?ll show in future roles. Have you ever seen a sexy Oscar winning performance by a female? Neither have I.

Xbox Live Anywhere is very popular on the Xbox 360 console but how will the service be received by PC Gamers who are traditionally used to free gaming servers and lots of free online action. The potential for fragging crossover between console and PC will be of huge appeal. Finally PC gamers can settle the battle over who's best with their console counterparts. With 10 million Xbox 360 consoles sold already, Microsoft will be keen to pull in the PC gamers and tie up global domination for online gaming. Windows Vista with direct X10 support and a wave of exciting next generation games will mean Microsoft is the current choice of gamers across the globe - online, offline, PC or console. 

Xbox Live Gold users currently pay a monthly fee in order to play online. However PC  gamers can play on thousands of free servers. Only the role playing games get away with monthly subscriptions, so will PC gamers be outraged at having to pay a monthly fee to frag on Xbox Live? It's certainly a dilemma for Microsoft - if the PC portion is free, why should console gamers have to pay.

Microsoft's Shane Kim recently voiced his opinion on the topic over at 1UP.

In the Xbox world when we created Xbox Live, there was no other option. We're sort of creating it as we go, we established that model and that framework. As we come into the Windows gaming world, there are alternatives that are out there so we have to be cognizant of that. We do recognize that, unlike the Xbox 360 environment, there's existing competition in the PC online space. So we have to take that into account as we think about how we're going to structure our services, what they'll pay for and what they won't.

While it's unlikely that Microsoft will drop the online fee system, it remains to be seen whether PC gamers can have any influence on the pricing structure.

One CompUSA store in Raleigh, North Carolina, reported that only a about a dozen showed up to be the first to get their hands on Microsoft's preeminent product.

The low turnout is not surprising considering the fact that Microsoft's Chairman Bill Gates did not push for the midnight sales events - a popular strategy used by retailers for the gaming market.

One customer who did turn out at midnight, Chad Janko, 29, told the AP, "I guess I'm a geek at heart." Adding, "I wanted to process the whole thing myself before all the reviews surface about it."

Mike Johnson, 29, of Rolesville, North Carolina, bought a laptop with Vista installed: "The biggest reason for me is the new interface. It looks so much better than XP," he said. "Apple computers have had nice graphical interfaces for some time. But it's the first time Windows has even approached that level."

Microsoft nonetheless rose to the moment, celebrating the launch with a Time Square bash - complete with acrobatics and loud music. Dancers, wearing Microsoft colors swung from ropes unfurling flags of red, green, blue and yellow to make a Windows logo against a building wall.

The much-talked-about Vista launched in 70 countries Tuesday.

In an AP report, Gates said, "When people think about their PC, they think about Windows even more than who the manufacturer is."

He added, "That determines how it looks, how you navigate, what the applications are that are available."

Al Gillen, an analyst at the technology research group IDC sums up the way most consumers feel about the Vista launch, "When I look at Windows Vista, I see a technology that is interesting, that is relevant, but to some extent is evolutionary." Adding, "I do not believe it will create a lot of motivation for people to rush out and get a new operating system."
