In UseAll the technology crammed into this mouse adds up to allow fine tweaking for any particular use, be it Photoshop CS2 editing or a quick blast of Counter Strike Source. The sensitivity can be altered on the fly by adjusting the dpi settings from 400 / 800 / 1600 all the way up to 2000 dpi. Two buttons on the mouse can be used to flip through the settings or if you prefer, a click on the driver menu once you have installed the included Razer software. The 2000 dpi option makes the Copperhead a very sensitive mouse with awesome accuracy. A much better solution when compared to a cheap mouse using software on a high sensitivity setting to achieve the same effect. The driver menu can also be used to adjust the mouse polling rate. Mousing polling rate accounts for the smoothness of the cursor and a higher rate means the position of the mouse is checked with more freqency which equates to greater accruracy in use. The maximum setting is 1000Hz and 1ms response - incredible when you compare it with the standard USB of 125Hz 3ms response found on most mice. Even the impressive Logitech G7 only manages 500 Hz and a 2ms response. All changes made by the Razer are done on the fly avoiding the need for machine reboots. The 2000 dpi and 1000Hz mouse polling rate combine to make the Razer Copperhead the best performing mouse on the market. On paper, no other mouse can achieve the same levels of accuracy or performance. In use, the Copperhead doesn't disappoint. The shape feels immediately comfortable and natural in your hand. With it's teflon feet and a decent surface, it glides effortlessly around giving precise feedback and response to even the slightest movement. It's a light mouse and this makes it easy on the wrists during long sessions. If you are used to a basic vanilla mouse, it might take you sometime to adjust to the finesse of the Copperheard. You don't have to push it about like a normal mouse shoving backwards and forwards. Just a light movement and it responds. It's almost as if it reads your thoughts. In addition to the main buttons and illuminated jog wheel on top, the Copperhead boasts four more buttons - two on each side of the mouse. This makes it suitable for lefties or righties with it's ambidextrous design. All the buttons are programmable and can be set with the software shipped with the mouse. When the lights are down low, the Razer Copperheard looks the business. The logo on top pulsates and the lights on the side let everyone know this is a special bit of kit. It is without doubt, the sexiest mouse ever made. ![]() ![]()
How does it perform in games? Superbly is the simple answer. The responsive and smooth action is phenomenal and allows for brilliant accuracy in online multiplayers such as Quake 4 and Counter Strike Source. Rail shots and sniping soon become taken for granted as the mouse homes in on prey with deadly accuracy. Often on other mice you experience a jump and slight skip as you try to make the shot. The Razer Copperhead eliminates all traces making it easy to pick off the enemy with confidence. While we can't promise it will make you the next Jonathon Fatal1ty Wendell, it will certainly improve your game whatever your level. In day to day use the mouse is wonderful and has become a must have for image editing at MaXit HQ. The ability to fine tune means you can adjust sensitivity right down on the fly for intricate masking and image correction duties. It's easy on the wrist and robust enough to withstand daily hammer. In short, a perfect daily mouse. The Bottom Line![]() ![]() Pros
